A Celebration of James Sims’s Life, age 75, of Jasper, Texas, was held on October 5th, 2021 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas. Burial followed at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas.
James was a native and lifelong resident of Jasper, Texas and was a social worker for APS Department of Human Services for over 11 years and then at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Newton, Texas for over 3 years. He was an equipment operator for many years. James liked hunting, fishing, gardening and anything outside and especially spending time with his family.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Sims of Jasper, Texas; son, Allen Sims and wife Wanda of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Latrica Sutton and husband Joey of Jasper, Texas; three brothers, Henry Sims and wife Paula of Jasper, Bronson Sims and wife Larah of Kirbyville, Texas and Edgar Sims of Jasper, Texas; sister, Susie Rutledge and husband Mike of Kirbyville, Texas; four grandchildren, Caleb Sims and wife Cindy, Jacob Sims, Avery Sutton and Jillian Sutton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Amanda Sims; brother, Hubert Sims and sister, Mary Ann Sims.
