Morrie Apodaca, 59, of Colmesneil, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at CHI St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.

Visitation will be Wednesday April 28, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.

A Celebration of his life will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial to follow in Egypt Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Milton Powers and Brother Murry Kimball. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Yates, Daniel Cummins, Billy Baird, Jeremy Overby, Randy Burns, and Pat Oates. Honorary pallbearers will be Philip Goodwin, Larry Lasiter and Kirk Raymond.

Morrie was born August 3, 1961 to Morris and Louise Baca Apodaca in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was a 1979 graduate of Santa Fe High School in NM. Morrie began his career as a surveyor with his dad’s company, A-Z Surveying in Santa Fe, NM. A resident of Colmesneil for the past 36 years. Morrie has been employed for over 32 years with Goodwin-Lasiter-Strong since 1988. He became a registered professional land surveyor (RPLS) 18 years ago in 2002.

Morrie was a hard worker who took pride in his work and strived to do his very best daily.

Morrie was a strong, Christian man who loved our Lord. He loved music and most of the time you could hear his music before you could see him coming in the driveway. He loved working outside in his straw hat but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He cherished his family and was so proud of them. He was a dedicated, faithful, and loving husband to his wife. He was the backbone of his family and everything he did, he did for them. His grandchildren Gabby, Hunter, Lacy, and Tyler, and great grandson Tucker were his pride and joys. He was known as Papi to many friends of his grandchildren.

Everyone who knew Morrie and had him in their lives were blessed. He was a light in this world and brought laughter into so many lives. He is loved by many and will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lacy Reynolds, grandparents, Francis & Pascuel Baca, Bonnie & Manuel Apodaca and Liberato Baca & Tillie Aranda.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Apodaca of Colmesneil; daughter, Chrissy Reynolds & husband, Tony of Colmesneil; parents, Morris & Louise Apodaca of Santa Fe, NM; brothers, Michael Apodaca & wife, Berna of Mesa, AZ, Mark Apodaca & wife, Jessica of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Lisa Bess of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Gabby Morgan & husband, Hunter of Hemphill and Tyler Reynolds of Colmesneil; great grandson, Tucker Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
