A Celebration of Norman Eugene “Buddy” Beckwith’s Life, age 87, of –Broaddus, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at Townsend Cemetery in San Augustine County. Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Norman Eugene Beckwith, son of Eugene Beckwith and Marva Mae Perkins was born on May 25, 1934 in Singer, Louisiana, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. He married Sylvia Jeanette Townsend on August 6, 1954 in Dequincy, Louisiana at Bible Baptist Church Reverend M.R. Webb officiating. Norman was employed at Sinclair Chemical/Arco Chemical/Lyondell Chemical from May 20, 1963 until his retirement on February 28, 1993. He enjoyed hunting, never missed any family events and he loved his wife’s cooking. The greatest joy in his life was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norman is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jeanette Beckwith of Broaddus, Texas; children, Debra Sheree Beckwith Barnes of Kenefick, Texas, Sonya Renee Beckwith of Crosby, Texas and Jeffrey Eugene Beckwith of Crosby,

Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Claude Barnes & Itziar of San Sebastian, Spain, Lieren Nicole Barnes Guillotte & Jonathan of Kingwood, Texas and Jacob Gregory Barnes & Kimberly of Humble, Texas; great-grandchildren, Olivia Ruari Guillotte and Adelaide Lillian Guillotte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Beckwith and Marva Mae Perkins; son-in-law, Gregory Claude Barnes; sisters, R.E. Pickering, Laverne Baack, Paulagene Bennett; brothers, R.C. Williams, Freddie Williams, Ralph Williams and J. B. Beckwith.

In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or to the East Texas Food Bank 3201 Robertson Street, Tyler, Texas 75701.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
