A Celebration of Dr. Gerald V. “Jerry” Cammack’s Life, age 79, of Jasper, TX, will be held at a later date.

Gerald died at his home June 26, 2019 with his sons at his side. He was a native of Jasper and raised in Pineland where he graduated as Valedictorian of his class in 1958. He received a basketball scholarship from Lamar University and after three years, he moved to Houston to attend U.T. Dental Branch. During his first year of dental school, he came home to visit and met the love of his life, Glenda Sanders. They married on December 22, 1962. After graduating from U.T. Dental Branch, he studied Orthodontics for two years, also U.T. Dental Branch in Houston. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he served as Captain from 1967 – 1969. When his tour of duty was over, he moved to Jasper to start his practice as Gerald V. Cammack D.D.S. Inc. After 39 years of dedicated service to his clients, Doc thought it was time to turn the business over to his son, Dr. Van Cammack, and spend time with his family and doing things he wanted to do, like going by different coffee meetings in town, chasing elk (and being chased by bear) in the Rocky Mountains, and flying his planes.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Cammack, of Jasper; two sons, Dr. Van Cammack and wife, Cameron, of Jasper, and Decker A. Cammack and wife, Tonya, of Fort Worth; a sister, Carolyn Mathews, of Nacogdoches, and four grandchildren, Myra Cammack, Addie Cammack, Claire Cammack, and Stella Cammack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Ardean Cammack and Ettie Lee Minton Cammack.
