Elliott Leon Hastings, Jr., 92, of Hillister, passed away, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Woodville United Methodist Church in Woodville with burial in Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Amanda Davis and Father Les Spears. Serving as pallbearers will be Butch Menard, Jimmy Walters, Ronnie Sellers, Dudley Lowe, Chuck Hastings, and Mike Darder. Honorary pallbearers will be Reese Shaw, George Houston, Scott Yosko, and Jerome Owens.

Leon was born February 24, 1927 to Elliott Leon Sr. & Catherine Agnes Hooks Hastings in Sour Lake, Texas. He was a retired Electrical Journeyman with IBEW Local Union 479 with almost 70 years of service. He was the founder of the IBEW Local #479 Retirement Club in Beaumont. He was an avid coin collector, a Longleaf Pine farmer and had coached Little League Baseball. He had been a Boy Scout of America leader, a member of the Order of Arrow, American Legion Commander Post #299, former president of Silsbee Coin Club and a member of the Woodville United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott Leon S. & Catherine Hastings; and late wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth Hastings.

He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Janette Hastings of Hillister; sons, William Leon Hastings, and Charles Stuart Hastings & wife, Amanda of Hillister; daughter, Mary Kathryn McKee of Dallas; sister, Pat Darder of Nederland; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
