A Celebration of Betty Jean Dickerson’s Life, age 87, of Mayflower, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Burkeville Baptist Church Chapel in Burkeville, Texas with burial to follow in the Mattox Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the Burkeville Baptist Church Chapel in Burkeville.
Betty Jean Dickerson died Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Jasper, Texas. A lifelong resident of the Mayflower Community in Newton County, Texas, Betty was a member of Burkeville Baptist Church. A longtime homemaker, she retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. She enjoyed reading, oil painting and sewing.
Betty is survived by her sons, Homer Dickerson and his wife Linda of White Settlement, TX and Ricky Dickerson of Carthage, TX; daughter, Robin Cooper and her husband Jeff of Burkeville, TX; sister, Mildred Conn of Jasper, TX; sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Patillo of Leonard, TX, Barbara Williamson and Ruby Dickerson of Pineland, TX; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Grace Hall; her husband of over 65 years, I.B. Dickerson; sisters, Mary Lou Clark; brother, James Hall; grandson, Bryan Dickerson and great grandson Waylon Greer.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
