Aubrey Rand “Bud” Sturrock, 77, of Hockley formerly of Tyler County passed away March 21, 2020.

Born April 26, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas to the late E. A. and Ageth Childress Sturrock, he lived in Tyler County for many years. Bud joined the U. S. Marines right out of high school and was proud to have the honor of serving his country. He worked different jobs before finding his calling of police officer. He worked for Fort Bend ISD as their security officer and became known as the “Gang Guru” for the work he did protecting the students at the school. In the 1980’s he joined the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and worked his way up to Criminal Chief Investigator retiring in 2017 with over 30 years of service to the county. Bud was a fun loving man who loved his family dearly. He always had a smile on his face and liked to laugh and make other’s laugh no matter the circumstances. Bud will be dearly missed.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Sturrock; brothers, Bob Sturrock, Frank Sturrock and Tommy Sturrock and a sister, Marie Sturrock.

He is survived by his loving family, sons, Aubrey Sturrock, Jr. and wife, Terri of Alto, Jeff Sturrock of Jasper, Jason Sturrock and wife, Carole Ann of Arizona, Eric Sturrock and wife, Elizabeth of Louisiana, Nick Sturrock and wife, DeAnna of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; daughters, Amber Sturrock Miller and husband, Royce of Hitchcock and Emily Tomlinson of Beauxart Gardens; brother, Bill Sturrock and wife, Vivian of Sour Lake, Texas; sister, Barbara Ann Strube and husband, Gary of Hockley; grandchildren, Kati Sturrock Jones and husband, Billy, Aubrey, Sturrock, III and wife, Sheena, David Sturrock and wife, Meagan, Sydni Sturrock McNeel and husband, Justin, Tanner Sturrock and wife, Lauren, Dylan Sturrock and wife, Mindy, Maci Sturrock, Remi Sturrock, Madison McGinty , Haylee McGinty, Ashlynne and Elena Sturrock; great grandchildren, Ashton, Brodie, Josie and Mark Jones, Aubrey, IV, Raymie, River, Ford, Kaulder, Sutton and Kohen Sturrock and Harper McNeel; and numerous other family members and friends.

A grave side service will be held Friday, March 27, 2020, at 2 pm at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:30 pm until 2 pm at the cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons, Jeff Sturrock, Jason Sturrock, Nick Sturrock, Eric Sturrock, Aubrey Sturrock III, David Sturrock, Tanner Sturrock and Dylan Sturrock.

Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
