Rachel M. Sturrock, 91, of Woodville, passed away, Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Pinecrest Retirement Community in Lufkin, Texas.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home and then on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating will be Dr. Raymond A. Parker and Brother Mark Tolar. Serving as pallbearers with be Judge Jacques Blanchette, Trey Allison, Jimmy Tucker, Jimmy Watts, Tay Mason, and Preston Broom.

Rachel was born October 31, 1927 to Henry & Ethel Powell Yarbrough in Longstreet, Louisiana. She was a former longtime resident of Tyler County and had lived in Jacksonville for a few years before moving to Lufkin. She was a retired Chemistry teacher from the Woodville Independent School District. She was a member of the Tyler County Retired Teachers, Sassy Scrapper Quilting Club and First Baptist Church of Woodville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Ethel Yarbrough; husband of 61 years, Judge Allen Sturrock; and granddaughter, Britney Sturrock.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Sturrock & wife Zuria of Carrollton, Mark Sturrock & wife Kris of Jacksonville and Stevan Sturrock & wife Connie of Woodville; daughters, Sharon Martin & husband Philip of Woodville, Sheri Irwin & husband Keith of Lindale and Sharlott Hickman & husband Randy of Woodville; sister, Orell Wright & husband Floyd of Pasadena; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
