Harold Bernard “Pepper” Smith, Jr., 79, of Colmesneil, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at his residence.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville, Texas with burial in Colmesneil Cemetery in Colmesneil. Officiating will be Rev. Jeb Airey. Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Cutrer, Michael Cormier, Jeff VanAuken, Tyler Warren, Jacob Airey and Erin Smith.
Pepper was born April 6, 1940 to Harold B. ‘Mickey’ Smith, Sr. and Lillian Broussard Smith. He was a cattleman, and a horse trainer. He loved football, hunting and fishing. He was an All-State Athlete in high school.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Beth Ann, and his parents, Harold ‘Mickey’ and Lillian Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Smith Airey and husband, Jeb, from Lumberton; son, Brandon Smith and wife Joley, from Colmesneil; brothers, Michael Smith of Austin and Daniel Smith of Lumberton; grandchildren, Jacob Airey and wife Rachel; Jordan Warren and husband Tyler; Kayla VanAuken and husband Jeff; Melnee Ernst and husband Jacob; Presley Porter and Kaylynn Porter and great-grandchildren, Bryleigh VanAuken, Bryson VanAuken, Kynsleigh Eves, Rose Elisabeth Warren and one on the way.
