Horace Allen Simons, 74, of Colmesneil passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born January 28, 1947 in Cleveland, Texas to Harvey and Georgia Simons, he lived in Kountze most of his life before moving to Tyler County 20 years ago. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Dun Belt Diesel Mechanic. Horace loved to hunt and fish especially with his brother, Tommy. He was a man of his word and loved his family dearly.

Horace was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Thomas Simons, Sr.; mother, Georgia Gertrude Mercer Simons; brother, Harvey Thomas Simons, Jr.; and a sister, Margie Jean Judalet.

He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Lela Sheffield; children, Horace Allen Simons, Jr., George Eugene Simons, Franky Allen Simons, Angie Simons, Crystal Marie Simons, Jeannie Bennett and husband, Gerald, Dominic Simons and wife, Brandi, Melanie Langham and Muriel Gifford; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 2 pm at the Colmesneil City Cemetery with Brother Bubba Sheffield officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brenton Riggs, Horace Simons, Jr., Joshua Bennett, Joseph Bennett, Wallace Judalet and Mekia Montgomery. Serving honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Bennett, Daniel Simons and Nick Geogre.

Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home and Crematorium.
