A Celebration of Newell Rhodes’s Life, age 82, of Jasper, Texas, will be 8:00 a.m., Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at My Little Corner of the World Cemetery, Brookeland, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the funeral home.
Newell died Friday, February 12, 2021, at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Newell was a native of Port Arthur and longtime resident of Jasper, Texas. He retired after 26 years from the State of Texas Animal Health Commission. He liked fishing, hunting, and he liked to travel.
Newell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melba Rhodes, of Jasper, Texas; his sons, Kurt Leland Rhodes and wife Tana of Kirbyville, Texas, and Mike Dagle of Liberty, Texas; and his daughters, Dana White and husband Ronny of Carthage, Texas, and Kelley Davis and husband Clint of Jasper, Texas; seven grandchildren, Avery Malone, Allison Bolgiano, Caleb Fallin, Blaine Rhodes, Lane Howard, Dawson Howard, and Dylan Howard; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Pearl Rhodes.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
