A celebration of Albert Ray “Buddy” Barber’s life, age 71, of Dam B, will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the funeral home.

Buddy died March 10, at Chi St. Luke’s Health in Lufkin. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas Buddy was a longtime resident of The Dam B area in Tyler County. He attended Kirby High School in Woodville prior to working as a millwright until his retirement. He enjoyed working in his shop and was an accomplished metal worker. He also enjoyed bee keeping and making muscadine wine.

Buddy is survived by his wife of over 50 years Rose Barber of Dam B, Texas; sons Sammy Ray Barber, Albert Paul Barber III of Woodville, Texas, Jerry Michael Nanney of Nacogdoches, Texas, William Albert Nanney of Woodville, Texas and Dale Barber of Dam B, Texas; daughter Angela Marie Lynch and husband Dustin of Woodville, Texas; seven grandchildren Courtney Barber, Sean Barber, Tryston Barber, Seath Barber, Audrey Barber, Sara Barber and Wylee Barber; one great grandchild Colston Breaux. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Albert Paul and Dale Barber; two sisters Patricia Ann Messer and Sarah Elizabeth Cowart.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
