The 2020 Bassmaster Central Open will be this weekend on the waters of Lake Sam Rayburn. Hundreds of anglers from across the country will be going for big bass and big bucks, but one angler has had some very bad luck before the event even started.

KTRE 9 News is reporting that an unidentified out-of-state angler has reported to Lufkin Police that approximately $15,000.00 worth of fishing equipment has been stolen out of his truck.

The report said the man’s wife had driven the truck to several stores in Lufkin, and it’s believed that the theft occurred on Monday when she was parked at either WalMart or Academy. At last word Lufkin Police were reviewing security camera video from those stores.

Meanwhile, the Bassmaster tournament will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with weigh-ins at Umphrey Family Pavilion on Recreational Road 255.
