The Annual Martin Luther King Day March & Rally was held on Monday. Those who participated enjoyed blue skies and sunshine, with a temperature in the mid 40's.

The group gathered at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church on East Martin Luther King Boulevard and then walked their way to Jasper High School where they heard from spacial guest speaker Dr. Jearon Chew, Pastor of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church on North Main Street in Jasper.

This year's march was 1/10th of a mile shorter than usual. The traditional route, which is 3.7 miles, goes down the length of Main Street from MLK. However, due to construction, this year the route went west on Houston Street and then down Marvin Hancock to reach the school, a total of 3.6 miles.

The march and rally is organized each year by the Jasper branch of the NAACP.
