KLTV in Tyler is reporting that a woman from Brookeland in nearby Sabine County has been sentenced to 8 years in prison in connection with a bomb threat that occurred in March of 2018.

The sentence was handed down on Thursday in the trial of Heather George, 33, who was accused of sending an email to the Smith County Sheriff's Department in Tyler, saying she would blow up the building.

A short time after the threat occurred, officers in Tyler reportedly identified the alleged source of the email and worked with deputies with the Sabine County Sheriff's Department in Hemphill to investigate the incident and obtain a search warrant for George's home where they collected evidence, which they said were linked to the crime.

Prosecutors later submitted evidence to a Grand Jury, which resulted in George being charged with Terroristic Threat/ Fabricating Physical Evidence, Influence of a State Government, and Tampering with Evidence/Fabrication of Physical Evidence.
