The concrete has dried and the stripes have been painted on a parking lot created for Provalus employees in downtown Jasper. Meanwhile, company officials delivered a message of good news to the Jasper Economic Development Corporation during their board meeting earlier in the week.

A Provalus representative said that the company is up to 58 full-time employees now with 26 more currently in their training program.

Additionally, word is that the Alabama based company is in the process of possibly entering into contracts with two major clients for information technology services, which would potentially have a positive effect on their Jasper office.

The parking lot was an effort by the Jasper Economic Development Corporation and the City of Jasper, and it was funded with revenues from a 1/2 cent sales tax. Earlier this year, a row of abandoned deteriorating buildings on West Houston Street were purchased and then demolished to make way for the parking lot, and the Provalus building is next door on the southeast corner of Houston at Main.
