New numbers from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice show a dramatic drop of active Coronavirus cases among inmates at the Goodman Prison Unit east of Jasper. At one point two weeks ago the facility lead the state with the most active cases well over 200. However, as of Friday Goodman has dropped down to just 24 active cases among inmates and 192 recoveries.
As for employees, TDCJ says there are currently 26 employees of the Goodman Unit with active cases of the illness.
Meanwhile, the Stiles Prison Unit in Jefferson County still leads the stare with the most active cases among inmates. As of Friday that number stood at 672, while the unit had 89 active cases among the employees.
The Lewis Prison Unit just east of Woodville was reporting 1 inmate and 2 employees with active cases of Coronavirus as of Friday.
