A man from Kountze was killed and three other people were injured on Saturday evening in an auto accident that occurred in nearby Hardin County.
Sergeant Stephanie Davis of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred shortly before 11:00, when a 2001 Chevrolet pick up truck that was traveling westbound on Farm to Market Road 420 for some unknown reason, left the roadway and turned over. The accident occurred about 10 miles north of Kountze.
The driver of the truck, 55-year-old Charles Edward Groze Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people riding in the vehicle, Quinton Ruso, 21, of Buna and 19-year-old Caleb Jay Smith of Silsbee, were both taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where they were treated for their injuries. Another passenger in the vehicle, Dylan Leviness, 18 of Silsbee was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
