The Jasper Economic Development Corporation has donated $8,700.00 towards scholarships for Jasper Independent School District students who desire to take dual credit courses through the Lamar Institute of Technology.
Those classes are taught at the Jasper Higher Education & Technology Building on Bulldog Avenue on the campus of Jasper High School. Earlier in the summer, Lamar, along with Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, partnered with Jasper ISD and several other local school districts to provide classes here in Jasper.
JEDCO Executive Director Eddie Hopkins presented the check to J.I.S.D. interim Superintendent Dr. Steve Hyden.
Education officials say the dual credit courses offered here in Jasper by Lamar Institute of Technology include cyber technology, welding, nursing, and more.
