Deputy Glenn Blank and daughters

Following a long battle with lung disease and other complications, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Glenn Blank died late Monday morning. He was 38 years of age.

Many people in the region had closely followed Glenn’s fight for life, and many times over the last few years he had been on the brink of death, but miraculously found a way to live.

On Christmas Day in 2016, Glenn received another miracle when he was the recipient of a double lung transplant. Although his body initially rejected the lungs, doctors were able to slowly acclimate his body to them and Glenn survived, eventually returning to administrative duties at the Sheriff’s Department.

However, his health began to deteriorate again and he spent the last several months of his life hospitalized.

Following his death on Monday, fellow law enforcement officers escorted his body back to Jasper at Shultz Funeral Home & Crematory, where services are currently pending.
