As workers and staff prepare for the upcoming school year, John Seybold of the Jasper Independent School District said Wednesday that there was a shortage of school bus drivers.
According to Seybold, the school’s transportation department is looking for individuals to work both in the morning and afternoon, helping to safely transport children to and from school.
In addition to working during the week on regular routes, drivers are also sometimes needed to transport students to and from special school events.
Seybold said applicants for the job must have a valid Texas Commercial Drivers License.
Those wanting to work part time driving a bus for the school district should contact the school today as the opening of school is right around the corner and drivers are needed.
A sign posted on a bus advertising the need for drivers said the jobs pay as much as $20.56 per hour.
