The motorhome struck the man on the front driver side, leaving damage.

Polk County Today in Livingston is reporting that a man standing in the middle of Highway 190 early Wednesday morning was struck by a large motorhome and died a short time later. It happened shortly before 1:00 in the Soda Community, which is located between Woodville and Livingston.

The man was later identified by authorities as 32-year-old Rudy Renee Williams, of Galveston.

Investigating troopers said that Williams had been driving a vehicle and he stopped when it began experiencing brake problems. Troopers said he had his girlfriend to turn the vehicle around and he stood in the middle of the highway to watch the wheels to see if he could identify the problem.

At that moment, troopers said the motorhome, driven by Homero Esperaza, 58, of Houston, was traveling westbound and Esperaza didn’t see Williams standing on the highway and struck him.

Williams was transported by ambulance to a Livingston hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
