Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and firemen were called to help remove the body of the deceased hunter from the tree.

The volunteers of the Beech Grove Fire Department were dispatched to a wooded area west of Jasper on Friday afternoon, when it was reported that a hunter had been found dead in a tree.

Firemen at the scene said all indications were that Joseph David McLain, who was deer hunting in the area of County Road 150, just off of Farm to Market Road 777, died of natural causes, while sitting in hunting tree stand, about 20 feet off the ground.

Firemen were dispatched to the location shortly after 1:00, when it was reported that McLain's body had been found by a family member.

McLain, 72, of Magnolia Springs was pronounced dead by Jasper County Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Brett Holloway.
