As the remnants of tropical storm Imelda brought heavy rain to the region on Wednesday, emergency crews in south Jasper County were busy dealing with multiple accidents on Highway 96 on and near the Neches River Bridge at Evadale. One of those was an early afternoon crash that involved a Brinks truck that apparently hydroplaned on the rain soaked highway.
That particular crash occurred just inside the Hardin County line, and emergency responders arrived to find that the truck had gone off of the roadway and was overturned.
Evadale firefighters reported that only the driver was in the truck at the time and he was complaining of only minor injuries.
However, firemen said that fuel was leaking out of the vehicle’s fuel tanks, so they were tied up on the scene for a while dealing with that.
The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the accident, and no other details have yet been released.
