It was a happy Homecoming for the Jasper Bulldogs as they defeated the Shepherd Pirates in the third district game of the season. Jasper has now improved to 2-1 in district play.
Meanwhile, royalty was crowned during halftime, with KaDence Traylor selected as Homecoming Queen and Trey Moran selected as Homecoming King.
Jasper began the scoring early in the 1st quarter when they put together a three play drive that culminated with a touchdown. The extra point made it Jasper 7, Shepherd 0.
On the first play of the 2nd quarter, with Shepherd on their own side of the field, the Dawg-defense created a turnover which they recovered, setting up the Jasper offense in excellent field position. A few plays later Ty Lee Adams went around the right side and took it in for a 14 yard touchdown. The PAT was good which pushed Jasper out to a 14-0 lead.
Later in the 2nd quarter, the Jasper defense created another turnover when the Shepherd quarterback was under pressure and his pass was intercepted by Jasper’s Jordan Crosby. That set up Jasper for yet another touchdown late in the first half, and the Dawgs went in at halftime leading 21-0.
In the second half the Jasper defense continued creating turnovers while the Jasper offense added one more touchdown.
Final score was Jasper 28, Shepherd 0.
Jasper will be on the road again with a Friday, October 29th trip to Center. Kickoff is set for 7:30.
