The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says a man is in custody after he fired a gun into a crowd, striking three people. Authorities say it happened at about 1:30 Sunday morning at a club located in the area of the Billy Goat Hill Community, just south of New Llano and on the northwest side of Fort Polk.

Meanwhile, investigators say those three victims underwent emergency medical treatment for gunshot wounds to their lower extremities.

According to investigators, witnesses identified the shooter as 25-year-old Andrez Shamad Jones, who fled the scene but was found and arrested later on Sunday.

Investigators say witnesses told them that a disturbance began inside the bar earlier in the evening and eventually spilled out into the bar parking lot with Jones involved in it. Witnesses said he went to his vehicle, got a gun, came back and began firing multiple rounds into the crowd.

Jones has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Second Degree Battery with a Firearm and one count of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm. His bond has not yet been set.
