A Beauregard Parish resident has been arrested and charged with arson after investigators with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry say that he is responsible for intentionally setting a wooded area on fire.

According to investigators, Gerald W, Neely, unknown age, of Merryville, is currently free from jail on a $5,000.00 bond on one count of arson.

The state agency said that Neely was arrested following their investigation into complaints of several wood fires in the area of Division Street in Merryville.
