The volunteers of both the East End and Beech Grove Fire Departments came together on Tuesday evening as East End presented Beech Grove with a used brush truck to add to their growing fleet. In appreciation, Beech Grove firefighters held a fish fry for East End firefighters. The event was held in The Connection Center in the Dixie Community, which is the old VFW Hall.
As Beech Grove inherits the used Ford Super-Duty truck, East End recently took ownership of a new Ford Super-Duty double-cab brush truck.
Beech Grove firefighters noted that they are growing so fast, they may have to add on to their small fire hall on Farm to Market Road 777 in order to house their equipment.
A few years ago, the Beech Grove Fire Department became the idea of several community leaders who live in that area saw a need for Beech Grove residents to have their own department.
The community had been served very well by the Jasper Fire Department for many years. However, due to the distance from Jasper, response times were lengthy.
