Police and sheriff's deputies are searching for a man, who they say ran from the Jasper County Courthouse after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said the incident occurred shortly before 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon, when Desmgne Morrisey, 39, went to the courthouse to speak with his probation officer and learned that he was a wanted man.
According to Newman, Morrisey bolted from the courthouse and ran down the street with at least one member of the courthouse security team trailing behind him.
Morrisey, who is only described as a black male standing 6 foot tall and weighing 205 pounds and wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans was last seen a block south of the courthouse on Water Street.
Anyone seeing Morrisey is asked to call 911.
