Although the number of active Coronavirus cases in Jasper, Newton, Sabine, and Tyler Counties remains low, deaths attributed to the illness are continuing to happen and now Sabine County has reported their ninth Coronavirus death.

Jasper County climbed to 33 deaths and Newton County went up to 13 deaths about two weeks ago, but both counties have since leveled off with no new deaths reported.

Also of interest is the shift of active cases in Jasper County. Early on when the pandemic first started affecting this region, the south end of Jasper County was recording the most active cases. That trend later shifted to the north end of the county, but for the last two weeks the majority of cases have gone back to the south in the Buna and Evadale area.
