KFDM 6 News is reporting that a Beaumont physician has been indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on a charge of sexual assault. The charge is against 70-year-old Dr. Michael Wesley Holmes, and prosecutors allege that the incident occurred at Medical Plus on Phelan Boulevard in October of 2018.
A probable cause affidavit filed by Beaumont Police states that a woman told detectives that she went to the clinic for medical problems and saw Holmes.
The woman alleges that Holmes walked into the exam room, closed and locked the door, and told her to raise her shirt and lay down on the table. The woman alleges that Holmes began touching and assaulting her and wouldn't stop for eight minutes.
The affidavit goes on to say that the woman had DNA swabs taken during a later, separate medical check, and went back to Dr. Holmes' office the next day to get paperwork. She says he once again touched her and assaulted her.
According to the affidavit, there is a DNA match between the swabs taken from the woman and oral swabs taken from the doctor.
