The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department has announced that several stolen vehicles have recently been recovered there, and at least one of those vehicles was stolen from here in Jasper County.
The report said that the vehicles were found in a field near the Highway 105 Bypass at Cleveland, and also near where deputies discovered a very large marijuana growing operation in 2013 that was linked to Mexican drug cartels.
Meanwhile, state and federal authorities say that the recent rash of pickup truck thefts in Texas is being conducted by organized crime out of Mexico, and the trucks are being used to transport thousands of illegal immigrants and drugs into the United States.
Investigators said that the stolen vehicles had been modified to haul multiple people or drugs.
According to investigators, all of the vehicles had fictitious license plates, and they had been stolen from Jasper, Hardin, Chambers, Polk, Bexar, and San Patricio Counties in Texas, and also from the states of Louisiana, Illinois, and South Dakota.
