A fire that broke out at a home located east of Jasper early Friday morning completely destroyed the wood frame structure.
Firemen were dispatched to the location on Highway 190 between Jasper and Holly Springs shortly before 2:00 and arrived to find the structure completely engulfed in flames.
The owner of the home, Jimmy Granger said he was out of town when the fire broke out and that he had no idea what might have sparked the blaze.
Firemen from both the Jasper and East End Fire Departments battled the blaze for well over an hour before finally bringing it under control. However, despite their efforts the home was completely destroyed but no injuries resulted from the incident.
It has not been a good year for Granger. In June of this year, he reported that over twenty guns along with numerous knives and jewelry had been stolen from a safe in the home. However, no suspect was ever identified and none of the stolen property was recovered.
