Jasper County Judge Mark Allen said Tuesday that the number of positive Coronavirus cases in the county increased by 4 over the last week, bumping our number of active cases up to 17. Meanwhile, the total number of positive cases that have been recorded in the county is now up to 56.

Interestingly, the number of active cases in Buna is down to just 1. Early on, Buna was the hot-spot for the virus with numerous cases breaking out there. However, now, the northern end of the county has the most active cases, specifically in Brookeland, Jasper, and Kirbyville.

Two Jasper County citizens have died from the illness; a Jasper man and a Buna woman.

As of Tuesday, the active cases were located in:

Brookeland – 4 Jasper – 5 Kirbyville – 5 Buna – 1 Evadale – 2
