A City of Jasper work truck has been stolen from the Waste Water Treatment Plant on the west side of Marvin Hancock Drive. Jasper Police Lieutenant Garrett Foster says the crime occurred at some point late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Foster said the thief, or thieves, went under a large chain-link fence to get into the facility and then burglarized several buildings. However, the only item missing was a 2002 white Ford truck with City of Jasper emblems on the doors, and a large black heavy-duty lift gate on the back.

Foster said the truck was driven to the chain-link fence gate within the facility, which automatically opened because of a pressure pad under the pavement.

However, in order to get onto Marvin Hancock Drive, they had to get past a large iron pipe gate that was closed and locked. Foster said instead they went through a ditch and rammed their way through a wooden portion of the fence next to the gate.

Meanwhile, city workers on Thursday replaced the wooden portion of the gate with heavy iron pipe.

If you see the stolen truck or have any information about the crime, you’re asked to contact Detective Josh Hadnot at 409-384-3471, or any law enforcement agency. You do not have to give your name.
