KJAS News has obtained a copy of an autopsy report on the body of 29-year-old Anabel G. Bruton. The Christoval, Texas woman was reported missing in Jasper County in March after last being seen near Kirbyville, and in April her body was found hanging about 30 feet in the air from a tree in a wooded area off of County Road 486, about 2 miles north of Kirbyville.
The autopsy, conducted at Forensic Medical Management Services of Texas in Beaumont, listed the cause of death as hanging, the manner of death as suicide.
The autopsy report noted that toxicology tests determined “Muscle tissue positive for methamphetamine”.
Before coming to the Deep East Texas area, Bruton was in the news in central Texas where she faced an arson charge. She and her children lived with a boyfriend there in his father’s home in Christoval, 15 miles south of San Angelo.
Investigators there say that shortly after midnight on December 29th, 2019, Bruton was on LIVE video on a social networking site as she showed herself inside a bedroom setting the home on fire. An arrest affidavit quoted Bruton saying on the video "You finally get to see the chaos you caused, I (expletive) hate you", as she lit the house ablaze.
Bruton was arrested on an arson charge on January 6th, 2020, and she was free from the Tom Green County Jail under a $35,000.00 bond at the time of her death.
