Newton Food Share is benefitting from the addition of a power generator and also food storage facilities. The volunteer public service entity, located at 509 Main Street in Newton, has a mission of keeping the poor and destitute of their community fed.
Recently, officials with Amerigroup out of Houston donated $50,000.00 to Newton Food Share for the purpose of purchasing a power generator to insure that food was kept at suitable temperatures in the event of a power outage. Newton Food Share then purchased and installed an industrial grade Generac brand generator.
