A Newton County woman was critically injured in a Friday morning accident in the Farrsville Community. The two-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 8:00 on State Highway 63, about 6 miles west of Burkeville.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis, 74-year-old Gloria Evans was leaving a private driveway when her 2015 Mazda passenger vehicle was struck on the driver side by a 2011 Dodge passenger vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Kynishia Roberts, also of Burkeville.

Evans was flown from the scene to Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, while Roberts and her 6-month-old baby were transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Evan's husband, Joe Evans said Monday that his wife had underwent four surgeries since the accident occurred and that she was still in critical condition as she continues to undergo treatment. He called on everyone in the community to not only pray for his wife, but all those involved in the crash.
