A Lufkin man has been killed in an early Wednesday morning accident in Tyler County. The pre-dawn single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 5:00 on Farm to Market Road 256, about 5 miles east of Colmesneil.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis said that 51-year-old Robert Hadnot was traveling westbound in a 2008 Ford Focus when, for an unknown reason, the car went off the highway and rolled over several times.

Davis said that a passenger in the car, 55-year-old Dietrich Hart, also of Lufkin, was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over.

Both Hadnot and Hart were rushed by ambulance to Tyler County Hospital in Woodville where Hart was pronounced dead. Hadnot, at last word, was still undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

Sergeant Davis said an investigation of the accident revealed that neither man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
