Jasper County Committee on Aging Director Mitch McMillon has announced that the organization’s congregate meals program will continue. This comes after last month’s announcement that they were discontinuing the service after a loss of federal funding.

In a memorandum from McMillon obtained by KJAS News, McMillon said “Due to increased funding recently received from DETCOG (Deep East Texas Council of Government), we are pleased to announce the continuation of our Congregate meal service through fiscal year 2020”.

Following the announcement that they were discontinuing the in-house meals at their Jasper, Kirbyville, and Buna locations, McMillon said that they would still have their Meals-on-Wheels program which delivers microwaveable frozen meals to homes.
