The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department and others worked frantically in the blowing rain to rescue the the two individuals from the vehicle. However, their attempts were in vain and the two occupants of the pick up were pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Ronnie Billingsly.
