Kirbyville Police have recovered one of two vehicles that were recently stolen.

According to Chief Paul Brister, a stolen 1999 Ford Crown Victoria was found Wednesday evening wrecked and abandoned next to a creek near Kirbyville. Brister said although it was damaged, it was still drivable and has been returned to the owner.

That car was taken from a gas pump at the Valero Convenience Store on Highway 96 in Kirbyville on Tuesday afternoon. The owner, Jaylan Brown-Dennis, said he went in the store to pay for gas and that’s when it was taken.

Meanwhile, Chief Brister says that the investigation continues into the weekend theft of a truck and cattle trailer from the Kirbyville Auction Barn on Highway 96. In that case, a white 2001 Dodge dually with Texas license plate 1EN388 and a black 28 foot long gooseneck cattle hauler were taken.

If you have any information about either crime, you’re asked to contact the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department at 409-384-5417 or any local law enforcement agency. You do not have to give your name.
