Louisiana news outlets are reporting that a Zwolle man was killed in a weekend brawl inside the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. Reports say it happened Saturday and the deceased inmate, 32-year-old Major Jones, was pronounced dead at 9:45 that night.
According to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Jones had gotten into a fight with fellow inmate Gary Francois, age 30, about an hour before his death.
Jones began serving a life sentence in 2016 on a second degree murder conviction following the 2014 stabbing death of James Paul Green, of Fisher, and then Green’s house had been set on fire with his body in it.
Francois was also serving a life sentence for murder after a Christmas Eve 2014 shooting death of a man inside a mall in Terrytown, a suburb of New Orleans.
