The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced that a Diboll man has been sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in federal prison on a drug conviction. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old Gonzalo Alonso Torres was trafficking methamphetamine, and he was arrested following a September 2019 sting operation when he delivered meth to a mailbox for someone who he thought was a buyer, and then two more sting operations the following month.
Torres will be imprisoned until November of 2036 when he’ll be 59-years-old.
