Jasper football wing-back Reggie Shaw, Jr. is back at home and continuing to mend after a devastating season ending injury last week. According to his father, Reggie Shaw, Sr., his son was released from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont on Monday.

Shaw, who is a senior student-athlete, suffered a broken femur (upper leg bone) as he was being tackled late in the first half during last Thursday night’s bi-district playoff game against Hardin-Jefferson in Vidor.

Mr. Shaw said he was told by doctors that it was a “clean break”, meaning that there was no splintering of the bone and it was the best scenario for his son to make a full recovery.

Reggie Shaw, Jr. underwent surgery and doctors inserted a titanium rod to fuse the bone back together and it was anchored in place with screws.
