Independence Day got off to a bad start for a Bronson man and two other drivers when they were involved in a three vehicle crash on the State Highway 103 Bridge over the far north end of Lake Sam Rayburn. The Texas Department of Public Safety said it happened shortly before 6:00 Thursday morning.

According to troopers, the crash occurred as 33-year-old Collins LaFosse, Jr., of Natchitoches, Lousiana, was traveling westbound in a 2016 Dodge pickup truck and crossed into the eastbound lane. DPS said the truck collided with an eastbound 2016 Nissan SUV, driven by Alton Craig, 69, of Bronson.

Troopers said the Dodge truck turned upside-down and then crashed into another eastbound vehicle, which was a 2008 Dodge pickup truck, driven by 47-year-old Juan Palacios, of Lufkin.

Alton Craig was the only person injured. He was transported by ambulance to a Lufkin hospital for treatment.
