The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Silsbee man died in an auto-pedestrian accident very early Thursday morning. Meanwhile, law enforcement says they’re looking for the vehicle and driver that hit and killed the man because they fled the scene without stopping.

DPS Lieutenant Chuck Havard said it occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 69 just north of Hooks Cemetery Road, which is between Lumberton and Kountze.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Antonio Jose Thomas. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No information was available about a possible vehicle description or direction of travel.
