A Woodville restaurant employee, who had only been on the job a day or two, is under arrest after police say he attacked the man training him with a knife and stabbed him twice. It happened shortly after 10:00 Wednesday morning at Elijah’s Café, located at 810 South Magnolia Street (U.S. Highway 69).
According to Woodville Police Chief Mike McCulley, the victim, 29-year-old Jose Oscar Azcona, of Jasper, was teaching the suspect, a 31-year-old Beaumont man, how to prepare the food when the suspect attacked him with a large kitchen knife. McCulley noted that employees said that when the suspect arrived at work, he appeared to be already agitated about something.
Chief McCulley said Azcona who suffered a stab wound to his abdomen, and a severe cut to his arm was taken to Tyler County Hospital in Woodville where he was treated and later released.
Meanwhile, McCulley said his officers located and arrested the suspect and also located the weapon at a location just a few blocks away.
