Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said Tuesday that deputies are in the process of seeking an arrest warrant for a retired Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant. This follows a high speed pursuit that occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7th in north Jasper County.

According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, 53-year-old Gregory Evans, of Orange, is accused of fleeing from deputies and a state trooper on a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle. The chase abruptly ended on Highway 96 near Recreational Road 255 when the rear tire of the motorcycle blew out and it crashed.

Duncan said as of Tuesday it was his understanding that Evans remained hospitalized for the injuries that he received in the crash.

Duncan said once arrested, deputies are hoping to have Evans charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle.
