The Jasper Independent School District has passed with flying colors after financial experts completed a an audit of the district. The findings were presented to the Board of Trustees during their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening.

Shelby Lackey with Weaver & Tidwell, LLP in Dallas informed school board members that the district received a coveted “clean and unmodified opinion” for 2018-2019 finances.

Lackey said the district has $15.2 million in assets in their general operating fund.

In other action the board approved a technology purchase for Jasper Junior High School in the amount of $73,077.50. The purchase was for tablets and also monitors in each classroom that interact with the teachers’ computers.

The board also approved a proposal for a retention incentive to keep teachers in the district. That incentive is a $250.00 bonus check to be given to each teacher.
